The choice of land is very important to the growth and care of ginseng. Ideally, the farm should be at a slope against the sunshine and it should include a good irrigation system. The planting preparation takes about one year. In spring, the seeds are planted and a cover is built to reduce the direct sunlight. A fence is built around the farm to protect the leaves from wild animals.

Every week from spring to autumn, pesticides are used to clean weeds. Before winter, the farm must be covered with a half-foot layer of dry hay to protect the ginseng roots. This process is repeated for 4- years. And ONCE every.4 years, we have a chance to harvest. The land can only be used once.

This means, if there were any long wet days during those 4 years, all efforts may be completely wasted.

After harvesting, the process of cleaning and baking will decide the quality of the ginseng. Too much cleaning may hurt the skin of the ginseng and too much baking may rot it. It takes about three weeks to completely dry the ginseng on open shelves. Once the ginseng is dried and hardened, it may be kept longer, ready for wholesale.

To retail American Ginseng, we must go through the process of cutting, shaping, sorting and packaging. Only reputable companies may have quality control to ensure the satisfaction of the customers.
